When I have a favorite item of clothing or a shoe that I just love, I will wear it until it completely falls apart. I'm ready to drop some serious cash on a hobo bag that I will do the same with. I want something that I can dress up or down daily. What are your suggestions ?

Hobos are the best for that reason- can be dressed up or down. I think spending money on a bag is always worth it as long as the material is good quality- real leather and not plastic anything. The couple leather Marc by Marc bags I’ve had for the past 3 years are still in really good shape. I would say any bag that is in a neutral color like black can be good for day or night since. Although I do feel like a beige bag is good for day but looks kind of lame for going out. The shape of a hobo is really casual so anything a little extra helps makes it interesting. Pockets, straps, details or fun hardware makes them good for night. And whatever bag you do get, always keep it in the duster bag when you’re not using it! that’s the best advice I can give. I looked around on ShopBop, Saks, Neiman Marcus, etc. and found a couple I like. If you don’t want to spend over $200 I highly recommend going to Zara. Their bags are good quality and not so expensive.
