I'm thinking about dying my hair back dark after about a month long stint as a "blonde," ha. Not feeling it anymore and after a consultation today about taking it up to platinum I decided it's not worth the money and upkeep (think I'd rather get new tattoos for that $$$). Anyway, I know you mentioned some at-home dye products in your ombre hair post, but can you suggest some products/brands that might be good for an all-over dye job? I'm probably going to go back to a black/brown erring more on the brown side as I'm naturally not jet black. Thanks so much!

Truth be told I love dark hair much more than blonde. I think that’s great you’re going back to brown.

I am a big fan of all the Clairol Professional products. When I dye my hair I use the color that comes in the brown bottles like below and mix it with a creme developer from Salon Care. You mix one bottle of the color with 2oz of developer in an applicator bottle like the one below and mix it in all over. (If you have long hair you might need 2 bottles color w 4oz developer.) If you’re going light to dark you only need a 20 volume developer not anything higher than that. Liquid developer SUCKS so definitely use creme! When you get the color make sure it has a neutral or gold base because anything that is green, blue or red base will turn out either too ashy or that horrifying red/brown color.

good luck!!

ps. good choice with tattoos ; ]
